AP Assembly Day 1: YCP Protests Lead to Session Adjournment
Dramatic Opening Day in Andhra Pradesh Assembly
The first day of the Andhra Pradesh assembly session was marked by high drama, wrapping up in under an hour due to intense protests and actions from YCP members.
YCP’s ‘Black Kanduvas’ Protest
The session began with Jagan Mohan Reddy and his YCP MLAs entering the assembly wearing ‘Black Kanduvas’ to protest against the current law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh. Tensions escalated when Jagan clashed with in-charge police officer Madhusudhan Rao, accusing the police of tearing placards carried by YCP MLAs criticizing the TDP+ government’s handling of law and order.
Session Disrupted by YCP Shouting
Once the session officially commenced, YCP MLAs seemed determined to adjourn it at any cost. They continuously shouted and protested while the governor delivered his speech.
Governor’s Speech Sparks More Controversy
Interestingly, the governor appeared to mock the YCP during his speech by praising the governance from 2014 to 2019. He highlighted achievements such as significant investments and the 75% completion of the Polavaram project, seemingly deriding the YCP’s tenure from 2019 to 2024.
YCP’s Plan to Adjourn the Session
Despite the governor’s remarks, the persistent efforts of the YCP MLAs to disrupt proceedings led to the session being adjourned and postponed to the following day. It was evident that the YCP MLAs had entered the assembly with a clear plan to adjourn the session, and they succeeded in doing so.
