The Hero’s Role in Ensuring Musical Success: Allari Naresh Shares
No Option: Hero Must Take Care of It
In Tollywood, it has been a long-standing belief that films with strong musical albums tend to perform better at the box office. A chartbuster album not only ensures an impressive opening but also boosts a film’s overall run. While this formula has proven effective over time, Allari Naresh recently shared a different perspective regarding a hero’s involvement in music.
Allari Naresh View on Music Selection
During the trailer launch event of his upcoming film, Bachachala Malli, Naresh addressed feedback about his films lacking chartbuster albums. Speaking candidly, he remarked,
“I’ve heard people say that I should focus more on the music in my films. But ultimately, it’s the director’s decision. They understand the film’s emotions, the placement of songs, and the lyrics that fit best. Heroes, including myself, often have little say in this process.”
Naresh’s statement implies that heroes typically have a limited role in shaping the film’s music, leaving most of the responsibility to the director and music director.
Star Heroes and Their Involvement in Music
Contrary to Naresh’s viewpoint, star heroes like Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu, and others are known for being deeply involved in the music-making process. These stars frequently participate in music sittings alongside their directors and composers, ensuring that their films deliver top-notch albums.
Their active participation often results in multiple musical blockbusters, which contribute significantly to their careers. Even Pawan Kalyan, during the early days of his career, paid close attention to his films’ music, ensuring chart-topping tracks.
Allari Naresh: The Struggles of Small Films and Mid-Range Heroes
While big stars have the resources and influence to focus on music, the scenario is different for mid-range heroes and smaller films. Limited budgets, a lack of involvement from music directors, and other constraints often lead to less impactful albums.
However, Naresh emphasizes that as the face of the film, it is ultimately the hero’s responsibility to ensure their technicians deliver the best. Fortunately, the emergence of young and talented composers is changing the trend. Even small-budget films are now producing chartbuster songs, bridging the gap between big-budget productions and smaller ones.
Changing Trends in Tollywood
With evolving trends and a more collaborative approach, Tollywood is witnessing a transformation in the musical space. From star heroes to mid-range actors, everyone is beginning to understand the importance of music in defining a film’s success.
As Allari Naresh rightly points out, while directors hold the primary responsibility for a film’s music, heroes also play a crucial role in encouraging and collaborating with their teams to deliver the best albums possible.
