Telugu Cinema Hits a New Milestone: Over $50 Million Gross

Telugu Cinema Sets a New Record in North America

Telugu cinema is shining bright in North America, where 2024 has become a landmark year. This year, for the first time, Telugu movies are set to gross over $50 million at the North American box office. Industry insiders even believe the cumulative total could reach $60 million, largely due to the high anticipation for Pushpa 2: The Rule, releasing in December.

Record-Breaking Telugu Film Gross in 2024

This year, Telugu films in North America have earned around $43 million. The biggest contributor is Kalki 2898 AD, which has made $18.57 million alone. Other popular releases include Devara ($6.01 million), Hanuman ($5.26 million), and Tillu 2 ($2.93 million). Guntur Kaaram and Saripodhaa Sanivaaram also did well, earning $2.63 million and $2.5 million, respectively.

With Pushpa 2: The Rule hitting theaters on December 5, many expect the cumulative gross for Telugu cinema to pass the $50 million mark. This anticipated sequel could even push total earnings close to $70 million if it meets the audience’s high expectations.

The Buzz Around Pushpa 2’s Release

Pushpa 2: The Rule is more than a sequel; it’s a major event. The excitement surrounding this movie is immense, and it has the potential to break North American records for Telugu films. This momentum may lead to a new standard, with Telugu cinema achieving $50 million or more each year if major stars release at least one movie annually.

Telugu Cinema Growing Popularity in North America

The steady rise of Telugu cinema in North America is fueled by a growing Telugu-speaking population, especially among students and professionals. Films like Baahubali 2 and Kalki 2898 AD have proven that Telugu movies have a strong global appeal.

As the North American audience for Telugu cinema expands, breaking records may become the new normal. With grand storytelling and emotional depth, Telugu films are not only popular in India but are now part of a global movie landscape, creating a bright future for Telugu movies worldwide.
