This achievement puts Shah Rukh ahead of other big names like Tamil actor Thalapathy Vijay, Salman Khan, and Virat Kohli, showcasing his dominance in the entertainment industry this year.
Blockbuster Success Drives Shah Rukh’s Record Tax Payment
The year 2023 proved to be monumental for Shah Rukh Khan. He made a grand comeback with three major releases:
- Pathaan (January 2023): Grossed over Rs 1,000 crore globally.
- Jawan: An even bigger success, earning Rs 1,150 crore worldwide.
- Dunki: Though not as successful, it still managed to gross Rs 400 crore.
These films not only solidified his position as a box-office king but also contributed to his record-breaking earnings. Reports suggest that Shah Rukh Khan has become the highest-paid actor in India, with a profit-sharing model boosting his income significantly.
Thalapathy Vijay and Other Celebrities in the List
Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay secured the second spot, paying Rs 80 crore in taxes. His blockbuster release, The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), grossed Rs 600 crore, and Vijay reportedly earned Rs 200 crore for the film.
Following Vijay were:
- Salman Khan: Paid Rs 75 crore in taxes.
- Amitabh Bachchan: Paid Rs 71 crore.
- Virat Kohli: Paid Rs 66 crore.
Top Female Tax-Paying Celebrity
Among female celebrities, Kareena Kapoor led the list, narrowly missing the top 10 overall. She paid Rs 20 crore in taxes, showcasing her continued dominance in Bollywood.
