Rajamouli Curse: Will Devara Break it ?

NTR’s much-anticipated film Devara is creating waves in the Telugu film industry. Directed by Siva Koratala, the film stars NTR in an intense, action-packed drama, scheduled for release in two parts. The trailer, which was recently launched, has received a largely positive response, though some fans have expressed mild concerns. Despite the growing excitement, there is one looming fear among NTR’s fans—the so-called “Rajamouli Curse.”

The “Rajamouli Curse” in Telugu Cinema

The “Rajamouli Curse” is an industry sentiment that any actor who works with SS Rajamouli ends up with a flop in their next project. This belief has been reinforced by several incidents in the past. Ram Charan, after delivering a global hit with RRR, faced disappointment with Acharya, which failed at the box office. The same pattern seems to haunt other actors who have worked with the ace director.

NTR and His Past Encounters With the Curse

Interestingly, NTR himself has experienced the curse multiple times in his career. After a blockbuster success with Student No. 1, directed by Rajamouli, his next film Subbu underperformed. Later, NTR enjoyed a massive hit with Simhadri but soon after, his next release Andhrawala tanked at the box office. Again, after the success of Yamadonga, NTR faced a flop with Kantri.

Now, after the grand success of RRR, the pressure is mounting on NTR’s upcoming film Devara, which marks his return to a solo release after six years. The nervous energy was palpable when NTR spoke at the trailer launch event. He acknowledged the “Rajamouli Curse” indirectly and expressed his feelings about stepping into this new project.

NTR’s Hopes for Devara

“I am nervous because Devara is my solo release after six years. However, launching the RRR trailer in Mumbai was an unforgettable experience. The love and acceptance we received in the North were overwhelming. I hope Devara receives the same kind of reception,” said NTR.

Fans of NTR are hopeful that Devara will break this long-standing myth and defy the curse. With Siva Koratala at the helm, and NTR’s powerful screen presence, expectations are sky-high. The first part of Devara is set to hit the screens on September 27th, and only time will tell if it can break the so-called Rajamouli curse.
