Manoj Bharathiraja Passes Away at 48: Industry Mourns His Loss

Manoj Bharathiraja Sudden Demise

Renowned actor and director Bharathiraja’s son, Manoj Bharathiraja, passed away at 48 years old. He breathed his last at his Chetpet residence in Chennai around 4 PM on Tuesday. He is survived by his wife Ashwathi (Nandana) and their two daughters, Arshitha and Mathivathani.

Health Issues and Recent Surgery

Manoj reportedly underwent bypass surgery just a few days ago. While recovering at home, he suddenly passed away, leaving his family and the Tamil film industry heartbroken. His untimely demise has shocked his fans, colleagues, and loved ones.

Soon after the news broke, many celebrities and well-wishers expressed their condolences. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin shared his heartfelt tribute on social media:

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Manoj Bharathi, son of Bharathiraja. He made his debut with Taj Mahal and left a mark in films like Samuthiram, Alli Arjuna, and Varushamellam Vasantham. He also ventured into directing. My deepest condolences to Bharathiraja and his family.”

Manoj Bharathiraja Career in Tamil Cinema

Manoj made his acting debut in 1999 with the romantic drama Taj Mahal, directed by his father, Bharathiraja. The film’s music was composed by AR Rahman, and Manoj even lent his voice for the song ‘Eechi Elumichi’.

He went on to play lead and supporting roles in several Tamil films, including:
