Bollywood Movie “Abir Gulaal” Under Scrutiny After Kashmir Terror Attack

In the aftermath of the recent Pahalgam Terror Attack in Jammu and Kashmir, there has been growing demand for the ban of the Bollywood film Abir Gulaal. The film stars Fawad Khan, a Pakistani actor, and Vaani Kapoor in lead roles. Set for a worldwide release on May 9, the movie has now found itself at the center of controversy due to Fawad Khan’s involvement, amid tensions following the tragic incident.

Abir Gulaal: Backlash Following the Terror Attack

The terror attack in Pahalgam resulted in the tragic loss of more than 27 innocent tourists, sending shockwaves across India. In response to the attack, many people called for a ban on the movie, demanding that Fawad Khan, a Pakistani national, not be allowed to feature in any Indian films.

Following these demands, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a statement, declaring a comprehensive ban on Pakistani artists in Indian cinema. The FWICE vowed to take all possible measures to prevent the release of Abir Gulaal in India.

I&B Ministry to Decide on Movie’s Fate

Reports now indicate that the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry set to take the final call on whether Abir Gulaal will be banned in India. The decision expected to announced soon, as the government closely monitors the situation.

Actors Respond to the Tragedy

Following the terrorist attack, both Vaani Kapoor and Fawad Khan participated in a promotional event for Abir Gulaal in Dubai. The event coincided with the attack, leading to significant public backlash. In response to the attack, both actors expressed their sorrow on social media.

Vaani Kapoor tweeted, “I have been numb, at a loss for words since the time I saw the attack on innocent people in Pahalgam. Gutted. Devastated. My prayers are with the families.”

Similarly, Fawad Khan expressed, “Deeply saddened to hear the news of the heinous attack in Pahalgam. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this horrifying incident, and we pray for strength and healing for their families in this difficult time.”

Conclusion

With growing public demand for action, the fate of Abir Gulaal hangs in the balance as the I&B Ministry considers the film’s release. The tragic events in Pahalgam have raised questions about the involvement of Pakistani artists in Indian cinema, and the decision on this film could set a significant precedent.
