ED Seizes Shankar’s 10 Crore Assets in Enthiran Plagiarism Case
Shankar Faces Legal Trouble Over Enthiran
Ace filmmaker Shankar is facing plagiarism and copyright violation allegations related to his 2010 blockbuster Enthiran (Robo). The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached ₹10.11 crore worth of assets under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with the case.
This marks India’s first instance of asset attachment under PMLA for plagiarism and copyright violations in filmmaking.
ED Seizes Shankar’s Assets
The ED took action on February 17, attaching three immovable properties registered in S. Shankar’s name, valued at ₹10.11 crore.
The case stems from a complaint filed by Aarur Thamizh Nadan, author of the story Jiguba, who alleged that Enthiran was plagiarized from his work.
