AR Rahman Shines in Peddi First Shot: Not ‘Out of Syllabus’

AR Rahman Returns to Telugu Cinema with a Bang

Music maestro AR Rahman has been a revolutionary force in Indian cinema, known for his innovation and soul-stirring music. Though he once competed with the legendary Ilaiyaraaja and redefined Indian music, Rahman’s recent decade has seen fewer hits. Especially after 2015, his success rate dipped across multiple languages. Yet, with Ram Charan’s Peddi, Rahman has reignited hope among fans.

Peddi First Shot: A Pleasant Musical Surprise

When it was announced that Rahman would compose for Peddi, fans were skeptical. His track record in Telugu cinema isn’t particularly strong. Aside from Ye Maya Chesave, he hasn’t delivered a blockbuster audio album in Telugu. As a result, many filmmakers avoided collaborating with him, despite his iconic status and high remuneration.

Surprisingly, Peddi’s First Shot changed everything. The background score became one of the biggest highlights, drawing praise from fans and critics alike. Even long-time Rahman admirers, who were previously disappointed by his recent works, found this composition refreshing and powerful.

Buchi Babu Sana’s Bold Choice Pays Off

Director Buchi Babu Sana, known for his musical hit Uppena, made a bold decision by choosing Rahman over safer options like Devi Sri Prasad (DSP). Despite having a winning formula with DSP, Buchi envisioned Rahman as the perfect fit for Peddi. His vision has now been validated by the extraordinary response to the first glimpse.

Interestingly, this is also the first collaboration between Ram Charan and AR Rahman, adding more intrigue to the film’s musical journey.

Rahman vs Anirudh: A Musical Clash Ahead?

As Peddi gears up for release in March 2026, it may potentially clash with Anirudh’s The Paradise, starring Nani and directed by Srikanth Odela. If both films hit theatres simultaneously, fans will witness a musical showdown between two of the biggest names in Indian music.

So far, Anirudh has impressed with the glimpse of The Paradise, but Rahman’s haunting background score in Peddi has set the stage for fierce competition.

Final Thoughts: Rahman is Back in the Game

With Peddi, he has reminded everyone why he is still one of the finest composers in Indian cinema. Buchi Babu’s belief in Rahman has proven fruitful, and this collaboration might even set a new benchmark in Telugu film music.

Whether Peddi ends up outshining The Paradise or not, one thing is clear—He is no longer out of syllabus.
